Recent Grants

In October 2024, the John Terry Foundation proudly awarded £126,000 each to two remarkable charities—Make-A-Wish Foundation UK and Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity—following the success of our inaugural Charity Golf Day. These grants are a testament to our commitment to supporting children facing serious health challenges and to making a tangible difference in their lives.

Make-A-Wish Foundation

The £126,000 grant to Make-A-Wish Foundation UK will enable the charity to continue its mission of granting life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses. Each wish provides a child with a sense of hope and joy, offering them a break from the challenges of their medical journey. The funds will directly support the creation of magical experiences, bringing smiles and cherished memories to children and their families during difficult times.

Ray Of Sunshine Children’s Charity

Similarly, the £126,000 grant to Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity will support their efforts in brightening the lives of seriously and terminally ill children across the UK. The funds will contribute to granting wishes and providing ongoing support through
hospital visits and community events. By fulfilling these wishes, Rays of Sunshine helps to alleviate the emotional and psychological burdens faced by these children and their families, fostering a sense of normalcy and happiness.

Amputee Lionesses

In October 2024, following a feature on BBC Breakfast that highlighted the teams challenges and aspirations, John Terry personally reached out to offer assistance. He invited members of the team and staff to Chelsea’s Cobham Training Ground for a tour and matchday experience, including attending a Women’s Champions League game between Chelsea and Real Madrid from the players private box. This gesture not only provided the team with unforgettable memories but also significantly boosted their fundraising efforts kickstarted with a £1,200 grant from the Foundation helping them surpass their financial goals and secure their participation in the World Cup.

Stonebridge FC

In January 2025, the John Terry Foundation awarded a £400 grant to Stonebridge FC, a grassroots children’s football team, to sponsor their new team kit. For a small community club, this funding was more than just new shirts—it was about belonging, pride, and opportunity. Wearing a proper kit helps young players feel part of something bigger, boosts confidence on and off the pitch, and removes financial pressure from families who might otherwise struggle to afford sportswear. This grant reflects the Foundation’s belief in the power of local sport to build resilience, foster inclusion, and give every child a fair shot.

Rays Of Sunshine – London Marathone

In April 2025, John Terry took on the London Marathon, not just as a personal challenge, but as a powerful act of giving—raising an incredible £52,000 in the process. True to the spirit of the John Terry Foundation, he chose to split the funds, donating £26,000 to Rays of Sunshine, a charity that continues to be close to his heart and the inspiration for this Foundation.
